Singer Meesha Shafi responds to the legal notice sent by Ali Zafar

ISLAMABAD – Singer Meesha Shafi has responded to the defamation notice sentto her by the famous singer Ali Zafar against whom she had levelled seriousallegations of sexual harassment.

She has appointed Muhammad Ahmad Pansota and Nighat Dad as legal counselsto oversee issues pertaining to her sexual harassment claim against AliZafar.

“I have appointed Barrister pansota1 and nighatdad as my legal counsels tolook after all issues pertaining to my sexual harassment claim against AliZafar. Media is requested to contact them to get any update on the ongoingissue,” she tweeted on Tuesday.

Dad is a lawyer and Internet and women’s rights activist who runs thenot-for-profit organisation Digital Rights Foundation. Her work in thefield of IT security has earned her many international awards.

Barrister Pansota is an advocate based in Lahore.

The announcement comes a day after Ali sent a legal notice to Meeshaseeking an apology, which, if not provided, will result in “damages to thetune of at least Rs100 million” under Defamation Ordinance.

Ali maintains that Meesha levelled false accusations of sexual harassmentagainst him.
