MULTAN: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) winning candidate from theLodhran by-election, Pir Iqbal Shah, jumped ship and joined the ImranKhan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
As per the details, Shah met former opponent Jahangir Tareen and received aparty ticket for the upcoming polls. Earlier, the former MNA had partedways with PML-N and the Abdul Rehman Khan Kanju group.
He had submitted his nomination papers from NA-161 as an independentcandidate, the same constituency where Shah had defeated Ali Tareen in theLodhran by-elections.
Shah told a private media outlet that promises were made after the recentvictory in Lodhran but to no avail. He further added that his son AmirIqbal Shah was also neglected by Kanju and the PML-N leadership, which waswhy they decided to join PTI.
Tareen welcomed Shah in the party after the departure of his son, AliTareen, who stepped down to continue his higher studies. A closecompetition is expected between the PML-N and PTI on two NA seats and threeprovincial seats in Lodhran.
