link>kABUL- A commander of the Taliban group was killed in an ambush of the Afghannational defense and security forces in northern Faryab province.
The 209th Shaheen Corps said the Taliban commander identified as Mullah YarMohammad was killed along with one of his companions in Khwajah Sabz Poshdistrict.
The Shaheen Corps officials said the ambush againt Mullah Yar Mohammad waslaid late on Wednesday in Kusa Qala area of the district.
The officials further added that four Taliban insurgents were alsocritically wounded and two Ak-47 rifles and a motorcycle belonging to theinsurgents were confiscated.
The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgentshave not commented regarding the report so far.
According to the Shaheen Corps officials, Mullah Yar Mohammad who was alsofamous as Bismillah was among the key commanders of the Taliban group whowas actively involved in destructive and terrorist related activities inthis province.
Faryab is among the relatively volatile provinces in northern parts of thecountry where the Taliban insurgents and militants belonging to the otherterrorist outfits are actively operating in some of its districts.
However, the Afghan security forces are busy conducting counter-terrorismoperations in a bid to root out the terrorist groups from Faryab and othernorthern provinces.
