Frustrated over left isolated in Afghanistan endgame, India reacts over Pak – Taliban negotiations in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD – Frustrated over left isolated in Afghanistan endgame, Indiareacts over Pakistan and Afghan Taliban negotiations in Islamabad, Indianmedia has reported.

India has reacted by saying it’s monitoring the development in Islamabadbetween Pakistan and The Taliban.

India is “closely monitoring” the developments from Islamabad on theTaliban Pakistan talks.

Ministry of external affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar in his weeklypresser on Friday said, “All sections of Afghan govt, includinglegitimately elected government should be part of the Afghan peace process”and “all processes should respect the constitutional legacy and politicalmandate” clearly highlighting exclusion of government in Kabul will not beaccepted by India in any Afghan peace process.

New Delhi also said, no “ungoverned spaces where terrorists and theirproxies can operate and where they can create bases to target India” shouldform as the outcome of any talks.”

India did not have ties with Afghanistan when it was under Taliban controlin late 1990s. Pakistan was among the very few countries to have ties withTaliban controlled Afghanistan of 1990s. India saw its plane beinghijacked– Indian Airlines Flight 814 and taken to Kandahar in 1999.

New Delhi is engaging with United States and Afghanistan both on the recentdevelopments in the south Asian country.
