Situation worsens in India as thousands arrested and number of people killed across the country

NEW DELHI – In India, three more people have been killed by Indian policefiring, as protests against the controversial citizenship law continue on10th day.

The recent incident of brutal killing of civilians by Indian police firingtook place in Mangaluru and northern state of Uttar Pradesh.

The fatalities brought the death toll to eight. A curfew has been imposedin Mangaluru city with schools, restaurants and bars shut. Indianauthorities have also shut down the internet and text messaging for tens ofmillions in most cities.

Indian government has also banned gatherings across the country includingall of Uttar Pradesh and Bangalore, areas of the northeast and parts ofBihar, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai.

Police detained thousands of people in Delhi and the southern city ofBengaluru. FIR was registered against seventeen people including SamajwadiParty leaders for allegedly setting a public bus on fire during the protestin Sambhal.

Meanwhile, United Muslim Action Committee and All India Majlis-e-EttehadulMuslimeen held a meeting in Hyderabad and discussed to formulate A strategyagainst the Controversial Citizenship Act.
