Pakistan will not compromise its national interest for sake of United States

ISLAMABAD – Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif on Thursday clarified thatPakistan will not sacrifice its interests for the sake of United States,adding that if US wants peace in the region, it should review its policy.

Talking to media, Khawaja Asif said Pakistan Army gives befitting responseto Indian firing along Line of Control (LoC). It seems that neighboringcountry is not ready to negotiate, he added.

The minister said that Indian atrocity in occupied Kashmir is infront ofeveryone but the international community is not taking any action into thematter.

Nation is bearing consequences of Musharraf tenure, said Khawaja Asif.

Earlier, addressing a seminar in connection with China-Pakistan EconomicCorridor (CPEC), the foreign minister pointed out that under the corridorproject, special economic zones will be set up across the country whichwill benefit the investors.

Khawaja Asif said that several coal based power projects will be completedthis year, while work on Gwadar airport will soon be started.

In his remarks on the occasion, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Yao Jing,said that both the private sector and the investors are now contributing tothe CPEC.
