Iran – India inching closer

*Tehran – Head of Iran-India parliamentary friendship group said that themembers of the group are scheduled to have a tour to India to boostbilateral ties.*

The trip is in line with developing economic, political and cultural ties,Nazar Afzali told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Holding meetings with the Indian foreign minister, parliament speaker andIndian officials are among itinerary of the trip.

The enactments of President Hassan Rouhani’s recent trip to India will alsobe followed up.

The Iranian President’s visit to India took place at the officialinvitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi who visited Iran lastyear.

President Rouhani was accompanied by Iranian ministers of foreign affairsMohammad Javad Zarif, petroleum Bijan Zangeneh, road and urban developmentMohammad Akhoundi, and industry Mohammad Shariatmadari.

A large delegation from Iranian private sector’s businessmen and tradesmenwere also in India as part of President Rouhani’s delegation.

During the trip, Iran and India signed 15 MoUs.
