For the first time in history, India puts Pakistani top diplomat on Most Wanted list

*New Delhi: *India has put for the first time a Pakistani on most wantedlistlink>overhis alleged role in a conspiracy to target vital establishments. AmirZubair Siddiqui was visa counsellor at the Pakistan High Commission inColombo when he planned 26/11 style attacks in India, alleges the country’stop anti-terror body National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Indian investigators say Amir Zubair Siddiqui had, during his stint at thePakistani High Commission in Sri Lanka in 2014, conspired to attack the USand Israeli consulates in south Indialink>.

This is the first time that India has included a Pakistani diplomat’s namein the “wanted” list.

A chargesheet filed by the NIA in February says the US consulate inChennai, the Israeli Consulate in Bengaluru, the Eastern Naval Commandheadquarters in Visakhapatnam and ports across the country were on theterror hit-list.

The case relates to the arrest of Mohamed Zakir Hussain by the CriminalInvestigation Department (CID) of the Tamil Nadu police in 2013, onspecific information that he was involved in spying for Pakistan.

Zakir Hussain had allegedly told interrogators that he was working for AmirZubair Siddiqui, an official of the Pakistan consulate in Colombo.

Investigations revealed that Hussain had met Siddiqui in Colombo a fewtimes and was instructed to collect information about defenceestablishments, the movement of arms to the Indian Army and on arrangingfake passports and visas for two Pakistan nationals to enter India.

An NIA team reportedly visited Sri Lanka for investigations before placingthe Pakistani official in the most wanted list.
