ISLAMABAD – *PM-elect Imran Khan has invited Indian actor Aamir Khan andformer cricketers Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev and Navjot Singh Sidhu to hisoath-taking ceremony on August 11, **NDTV reported*link*onWednesday.*
There were reports that the PM-elect was considering inviting leaders ofSAARC countries, including Indian PM Narendra Modi, to his swearing-inceremony. However, the PTI spokesman has denied the media reports.
Fawad Chaudhry, the PTI spokesman, tweeted: “Media speculations aboutinternational dignitaries attending PM oath ceremony are not correct.”
“We have sought the advice of Foreign Office on the matter and will decideaccordingly,” he added.
On July 30, Indian PM Modi had telephoned Imran Khan and congratulated himon his party’s victory in the July 25 elections.
In the phone call, Modi “reiterated his vision of peace and development inthe entire neighborhood”, according to a statement by India’s Ministry ofExternal Affairs.
In his victory speech on July 26, Imran Khan said that he wanted to resolvethe long-standing disputes with India through talks. “If India comes andtake one step towards us, we will take two.”
