PTI leader Dr Amir Liaqat throws an open challenge to MQM in Karachi

KARACHI – MQM, in a press conference on Saturday, had alleged that therewas widespread rigging during the July 25 general elections resulting intheir defeat in a number of Karachi constituencies considered theirstrongholds.

“I just wish to say that they (MQM-P) take one constituency, open each andevery ballot box, recount all votes, be it from my constituency, but afterthis process, none should cry foul,” Aamir Liaquat said during ARY Newsshow 11th Hour.

Aamir Liaquat, who won from Karachi’s NA-245 constituency against MQM-P’sFarooq Sattar, also invited the on-panel MQM leader Faisal Sabzwari tobecome part of the scrutiny process.

About his party’s possible alliance with MQM-P in the center, he said thatPTI, being the largest party in the parliament, just wants to take smallerparties onboard.

It is pertinent to note here that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) grabbed 12out of 21 National Assembly seats from Karachi in the July 25 generalelections.

MQM, however, managed to grab four seats including the NA-255 constituencywhere its chief Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui was contesting against PTI’sMehmood Moulvi.
