*ISLAMABAD – National cricket team captain Sarfraz Ahmed has requestedprime minister-elect Imran Khan not to put an end to departmental cricketin the country.*
Departmental cricket involves teams from national institutions and privateorganisations like the SSGC, National Bank, UBL, Pakistan Customs and ZaraiTaraqiati Bank. “Departmental cricket has played an important role inPakistan,” he said while speaking to media in Lahore. “I played regionalcricket then went on to play departmental cricket.”
He said that there are many issues in the national team which are to beaddressed. “Our team comprises of youngsters and there is room forimprovement,” he said.
“If we still compare our current team to India you can see that they haveexperience,” he said.
Ahmed added that Imran has invited Pakistan 1992 World Cup winning squad tohis oath-taking ceremony today (Friday).
