PCB to setup training camp ahead of Asia Cup

LAHORE – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to set up aneight-day training camp for the upcoming Asia Cup starting from September 3.

According to the proposed schedule, the players will undergo physicaltraining in the morning session, whereas in the afternoon session, theywill work on their batting, bowling and fielding skills at the GaddafiStadium.

The Men in Green will reach the United Arab Emirates (UAE) four days priorto the tournament. Currently, some of the Pakistan cricketers are spendingtime with their families and will regroup for the camp. PCB officials arealso mulling over the option of gathering players in Abbottabad two tothree days prior to the eight-day training camp.

The national selection committee, headed by Inzamamul Haq, is expected toannounce training camp dates for the Asia Cup next week. The Pakistan teammanagement has made it clear that unfit players will not be included in thesquad.

Sources closed to the selection committee have confirmed that all-rounderImad Waseem, who is currently playing in Caribbean Premier League (CPL), islikely to earn a place in the camp.
