MOSCOW – Russia has responded over the news of military strike insideAfghanistan.

Moscow has said that it was not behind an air strike in northernAfghanistan.

Russian military aircraft have not been conducting any operations nearAfghanistan’s border with Tajikistan, *the RIA news agency* cited theRussian Defence Ministry as saying on Monday.

Two Afghan government officials said earlier on Monday that a Tajik orRussian plane had bombed a northeastern Afghan border district during aclash between gunmen and Tajik border guards.

Earlier an Afghan government official said a Tajik or Russian plane bombedAfghanistan’s Durqad district in northeastern Takhar province on Sundayafter clashes erupted near Tajikistan’s border.
