18 powerful bombs seized by Indian Police

NEW DELHI – 18 bombs were seized from Kannur on Monday by Indian Police,PTI has reported. Police said the number of people arrested in connectionwith the recent violenct incidents has touched 6,914.

A bomb was hurled at the BJP worker’s house Monday morning and window paneswere shattered, but none was injured.

At Panur in Thalassery in Kannur district, 18 powerful country-made bombswere seized by police.The bombs were made recently, they said. Police saidat Manjeri in Malappuram district, an incident of stone throwing wasreported.

According to police, 2,187 cases have been registered and 6,914 arrested inthe violence witnessed in the state in the past few days.

While 5,960 have been released on bail, 954 persons have been remanded tojudicial custody.

The state had witnessed unpredented violence after two women in theirforties– Bindu and Kanakadurga, offered prayers at the Ayyappa shrine inSabarimala on January 2 and during the hartal called by various Hinduoutfits to protest the women’s entry the next day.
