Russian President Vladimir Putin message for Muslims on Eid ul Fitr

MOSCOW – Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Russian Muslimson the holy occasion of Eid al-Fitr in a message posted on the Kremlinwebsite.

“Crowning the holy month of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr turns believers to thehigh spiritual and moral values of Islam, to their ancestors’ traditionsand customs. It encourages kindness and compassion, and care for those inneed of help and support,” the letter of congratulations posted on theKremlin website reads.

With deep satisfaction, the head of state noted that “Muslim organisationsare making an honourable contribution to the development of inter-faith andinter-ethnic dialogue, and the unity of Russian peoples.”

“They consistently and resolutely oppose religious intolerance andextremism, strengthen cooperation with the state and are actively involvedin charity and educational initiatives,” he added.

Putin expressed confidence that “Russia’s Muslim community will continue tofully participate in the country’s life and promote the preservation of ourinvaluable historical, cultural and spiritual heritage through its fruitfulwork.”
