Iran strongly responds against Saudi foreign minister allegations in OIC summit

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Director-General for InternationalPeace and Security Reza Najafi dismissed Saudi Foreign Minister Ibrahimal-Assaf’s allegations against Tehran as baseless.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a member of the Organization of IslamicCooperation, hopes that this meeting which is being held in the blessedmonth of Ramadan would boost unity among Islamic Ummah and would focus onthe main issue of the Islamic World, i.e. Palestine,” Najafi, who heads theIranian delegation at the OIC meeting in Jeddah, said on Thursday.

On Thursday at a meeting of foreign ministers of the 57-nation OIC inJeddah, the Saudi minister claimed that Iran was interfering in othercountries’ internal affairs, while also raising baseless allegations aboutIran’s involvement in the Fujairah tanker attacks.

Najafi rejected his remarks as baselsess allegations.

The Iranian foreign ministry had on Tuesday dismissed allegations by USNational Security Adviser John Bolton about Tehran’s involvement in attacksagainst four crude vessels in Fujairah port, blaming the B-team for theiranti-Iran plots.

Bolton claimed during a briefing to journalists in the Emirati capital ofAbu Dhabi that attacks on oil tankers off the coast of the United ArabEmirates this month were the work of “naval mines almost certainly fromIran”, without offering evidence.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Abbas Mousavi rejected theallegations strongly, saying that they are the product of the “destructiveplans and policies thought of by the B-team”.

According to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif’s earlier tweetsin April, the B-Team is made up by Bolton, Israeli Prime Minister BenjaminNetanyahu, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Abu Dhabi CrownPrince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. “Raising such ridiculous allegation ina meeting between two members of the (B-) team who have long-term anti-Iranapproaches is not something strange,” he added.

Mousavi addressed Bolton and other warmongers, saying that the strategicpatience, high vigilance and full defense preparedness of the IslamicRepublic of Iran will prevent materialization of their ominous plots forstirring chaos in the region.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) confirmed on May 12, after initial denial,that a number of commercial ships had been targeted by “sabotage” attacknear its territorial waters.

The Foreign Ministry of the United Arab Emirates issued a statement, sayingthat four commercial vessels had been targeted by “sabotage operations”near its territorial waters.

Mousavi, at the time, expressed Tehran’s concern about the negativeconsequences of the sabotage operations, warning of plots against regionalsecurity and stability.
