Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi makes second call to Dutch Counterpart

ISLAMABAD – Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has stressed to DutchForeign Minister for limiting islamophobic trends.

This was Foreign Minister’s second call to the Dutch counterpart in a week.

He noted efforts made by the two governments in preventing the blasphemouscompetition.

During his telephonic conversation, the Foreign Minister FM stressed on theneed for raising awareness, limiting Islamophobic trends and buildingbridges among civilizations.

The development comes a day after Dutch anti-Islam lawmaker Geert Wilderssaid he has canceled a planned blasphemous contest following death threatsand concerns other people could be put at risk.

In a written statement issued Thursday night, Wilders said “to avoid therisk of victims of violence, I have decided not to let the blasphemouscontest go ahead.”

The contest was to have been held at the tightly guarded offices of hisParty for Freedom in the Dutch parliament building.

The planned contest sparked angry protests in Pakistan on Thursday.
