ISLAMABAD – In its move to facilitate international students contributingto Canada’s economy enhancing their academic capital, the CanadianGovernment link decided toexpand the Student Direct Stream (SDS) program to include internationalstudents from Pakistan. The initiative will enable Pakistani student to geta student visa in ‘less than three weeks’. Canada has launched thisinitiative for students from India, China, Philippines and Vietnam lastyear and now it is apparently made available for more developing countries.
According to a press release on the website of the Canadian government, *“TheStudent Direct Stream (SDS) is now available to study permit applicants whoare living in Pakistan.” *Whereas, most of the SDS applications fromvarious countries were already part of the program and were being processedin under three weeks timeline. While discussing the selection criteria forapproving student visa via SDS program, the press statement detailed;
*“SDS applications require prospective students to provide more up-frontinformation to officers, including meeting language test requirements inEnglish or French and providing additional information that shows theirability to finance their education. With additional information, officerscan process applications more efficiently.”*
Meanwhile, the expansion of the SDS will boast the Canadian government’s“goal of attracting students from a more diverse range of countries”.Interestingly, Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship,Ahmed Hussen MP has also endorsed the expanding of the system to Pakistanistudents on Twitterlink.
The Canadian authorities have clarified though that “depending on where youlive, you may be able to get your study permit faster through the StudentDirect Stream.” The Canadian govt try to “process most Student DirectStream applications within 20 calendar days”. But some times applicationsapproval “may take longer than this”. According to the officials,
