AIG Sindh Police sentenced to 10 years jail over corruption charges

KARACHI – Former Assistant Inspector General (AIG) logistics, TanveerHussain Tahir has been sentenced to 10 years in jail by AccountabilityCourt in Sindh on charges of alleged corruption Rs 50 million from SindhPolice funds.

Moreover, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 25 million on the ex-AIG.

However, during the hearing of the corruption reference today, the courtacquitted former AIG (finance) Syed Fida Hussain Shah.

The reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) againstTahir alleged that he generated bogus bills to get huge funds in name offuel allowance for vehicles of the Sindh Police.

“After receiving fuel allowance, money used to be transferred to headconstable Mohammad Rafique’s account,” NAB noted.
