Former PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi gets a relief from the Accountability Court

ISLAMABAD – Accountability court on Monday ordered jail authorities toprovide facilities to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader and former primeminister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, who is currently in Adiala jail on judicialremand in a case pertaining to the liquefied natural gas (LNG) contractcase.

Accountability court Judge Muhammad Bashir heard the plea of the formerpremier for provision of facilities in his prison cell in the Adiala Jail.

According to details, the petition stated that the former premire Abbasiwould be provided with the same prison facilities given to Pakistan PeoplesParty (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

Judge Muhammad Bashir ordered to provide the former premier with the sameprison facilities.

Earlier on July 18, 2019, the anti-corruption watchdog had arrested ShahidKhaqan Abbasi near Thokar Niaz Baig toll plazain a multi-billion-rupee caserelated to the award of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) import contract.
