1223 MW Balloki power plant successfully completed

ISLAMABAD – Balloki Power plant, Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG)has been completed successfully which will provide 1,223 MW electricity tothe national grid.

The plant has successfully passed all the performance-related tests. RashidMahmood, CEO of National Power Parks Management Company (NPPMCL), said on29th July that “I am proud to announce that the Balloki project is now ableto supply up to 1,223 megawatts (MW) of uninterrupted power to the nationalgrid, the equivalent electricity needed to supply up to 2.5 millionPakistani homes. This is the second regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG)power project developed by NPPMCL – the first being the Haveli Bahadur Shah(HBS) power plant, which entered full-fledged combined cycle commercialoperations in May 2018.”

He added, the HBS and Balloki plants have already added over 5.5 billionkilowatt hours of power to the national grid while in the commissioningphase and they will continue to deliver efficient, low-cost power for up to30 years, making a positive difference in the lives of the people ofPakistan.

The National Power Parks Management Company (NPPMCL) given the contract toHarbin Electric International Company Limited (HEI), which is theengineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the projectand responsible for the conclusion of all the commissioning work andsuccessful tests. Moreover, HEI sub-contracted General Electric’s (GE) tosupply two of its gas turbines, some auxiliary equipment, and technicaladvisory services. Employees from more than 25 countries came have beeninvolved in the accomplishment of the project.
