Pakistan to make CPEC more strong and transparent: Report

SLAMABAD: Jaweria Zafar Ahaheer, Parliamentary Secretary for Informationsaid that the government was taking various steps for making China PakistanEconomic Corridor (CPEC) project more strong, transparent and bringing overall development in socio-economic sector.-

Talking to a private TV channel, she said that many economic reforms areunderway to enhance the trade volume with neighbor countries and todecrease the dependency on International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Jaweria said that the government had increased taxes and duties on luxuryitems in mini budget bill. She said that billion dollars investment ofSaudi Arabia in Pakistan was ample proof of Saudi Government’s trust on thedynamic leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Pakistan would play a mediator role between Iran and Saudi Arabia anddialogue are the solution of all problems, she said.

To a question Senator Anwar ul Haq Kakar said that it is responsibility ofthe government to resolve the basic need of the public like clean drinkingwater, development of health and education sectors but CPEC would bring somany economic changes in Baluchistan.

The living standard of the people would be improved after economicdevelopment, he added.

Former Federal Finance Secretary Dr Waqar Masood also appreciated the stepsof the government for economic development. Khalid Khattak, formerAmbassador said that after CPEC, the fully functional Gwadar Port have overone trillion dollars trade capacity to other countries from it.

He said that cluster powers will stand against the negative policies ofUnited States in near future. Saudi investment in CPEC project will be asmart move for economic development, he expressed. – APP
