ISLAMABAD – The Directors General Military Operations of Pakistan and Indiahave agreed to implement peace accord and avoid targeting civilians inborder areas. The agreement came during a special hotline contact betweenthe two sides today.
They reviewed the prevailing situation along the Line of Control andWorking Boundary and mutually agreed to undertake sincere measures toimprove the existing situation ensuring peace and avoidance of hardships tothe civilians along the borders.
They also agreed to fully implement the ceasefire understanding of 2003 inletter and spirit forthwith and to ensure that henceforth the ceasefirewill not be violated by both sides.
Both DGs MO agreed that in case of any issue, restraint will be exercisedand the matter will be resolved through utilisation of existing mechanismsof hotline contacts and border flag meetings at local commander’s level.
