RAWALPINDI – A Youth jirga from FATA called on Chief of Army Staff GeneralQamar Javed Bajwa at ISPR.
The COAS congratulated brave tribes, especially the tribal youth, onsuccessful and historic merger of FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) totheir popular sentiments.
He said that this mainstreaming will facilitate bringing enduring peace,stability and socio-economic development of the long neglected andterrorism rid area. He commended motivation and passion of the youth inrealization of this merger.
He said that state is determined to root out extremism and terrorism forwhich youth has a great role to play. “Focus on your peaceful endeavours,participate in political and democratic activities. We have achieved peaceat a very high cost of blood and national exchequer and we will never letit lose,” he maintained.
The Jirga acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan Army’s efforts for bringingback peace, stability and socio economic development in the area. They alsoacknowledged COAS’s special interest towards mainstreaming of erstwhileFATA.
The COAS emphasized that be aware of inimical forces that wish to exploitfault lines and try to reverse the gains. “They will never succeed.”
The COAS lauded youth for their determination and support to Pakistan Armyin fight against terrorism. He valued their views regarding future ofPakistan.
“Achievements through sacrifices of brave tribals are being consolidatedwhile we transit from relative stability to enduring peace.”
The COAS also shared his engagement with Afghan leadership for enhancedcooperation and security measures along Pak-Afghan border. He advised theyouth to continue playing their role towards peace and progress of Pakistanas they are the future leaders.
