ISLAMABAD – President Dr. Arif Alvi has emphasized the importance ofuniform education system for national cohesion and development.

Addressing 34th Annual Award ceremony of Federal Board of Intermediate andSecondary Education in Islamabad on Tuesday afternoon, he said samecurriculum should be taught in English and Urdu medium schools as well asreligious ceremonies.

The President said learning in mother tongue is easier in comparison with aforeign language.

The president appreciated the hard work of female students andcongratulated them on achieving accolades. He said no society can progresswithout the active participation of women in every walk of life.

Earlier, the President distributed cash awards, laptops and other prizesamong the positions holders.

Earlier, speaking on the occasion Minister for Federal Education andProfessional Training Shafqat Mahmood said examination system of allschools, colleges and universities will be synchronized.

He said government is fully committed to improve the literacy rate of thecountry which stands at 58 percent.

The Minister said National Curriculum Council has been formed to devise auniformed syllabus for the educational institutions.

He pledged that the education sector will witness a significant change innext four years.

He appreciated Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education forits best examination system and termed the board as center of excellence.

President Dr Arif Alvi, on the occasion, distributed medals, certificates,laptops and cash awards among the top three position holders of differentgroups of the federal board.
