India responds over Pakistan’s offer to PM Modi for SAARC summit

NEW DELHI – Indian Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj hasresponded over Pakistan offer to Indian PM Narendra Modi for SAARC summit.

She said that India will not attend the South Asian Association forRegional Cooperation (Saarc) conference if it is held in Pakistan.

She brushed off any possibility of improvement in relations between Indiaand and Pakistan, despite the opening of the Kartarpur crossing. “Until andunless Pakistan stops terrorist activities in India, there will be nodialogue and we will not participate in Saarc [conference],” assertedSwaraj.

Owing to India’s refusal to attend, Pakistan will not be able to convenethe event for the third year now. Participation of all member states ismandatory for the convening of a Saarc summit.
