ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed to launch an extensivepublic awareness campaign against child abuse in order to eradicate thiscrime.
He was chairing a meeting in Lahore on Monday to overview the law and ordersituation in Punjab.
The Prime Minister while referring to the incidents of child abuse in Kasurand Chunian said he is deeply grieved over the occurrences. He said suchcrimes invite wrath of God.
Imran Khan directed Punjab Chief Minister and authorities concerned tovisit Kasur, Chunian and other affected areas and meet with the localUlemas, affluent people, school teachers and parents to highlight theproper training of children to avoid such incidents, besides creatingawareness to identify the elements involved in such crimes.
The Prime Minister also directed to take strict action against criminalelements and said the government will back the officials in case they faceany pressure.
Inspector General Punjab gave a detailed briefing to the participants ofthe meeting on steps taken to stop crimes in the province, action againstcriminal elements, change in police station culture, professional trainingof police personnel, encouragement of officials of good repute, amendmentsin laws and public awareness campaign against criminals.
Prime Minister Imran Khan was apprised of clear action plan under anintegrated strategy against elements involved in child abuse and childpornography within six months.
