ISLAMABAD: The Opposition will protest the federal government that is going to launch its sixth consecutive budget for fiscal year 2018-19 on Friday, 34 days before its five-year term comes to a close.
A government that is going to complete its term after a month is not entitled to present a budget for the entire year, said the political parties.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan People’s Party are in consensus on this count. They have summoned separate meetings to prepare a protest strategy.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari told party’s parliamentarians to ensure they show up for the budget session.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan said he would not attend but he tasked his party’s MNAs to protest during the session.
Opposition leader in the National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Shah, called upon the government to present a budget for four months only and not the whole fiscal year. “Loans on tough conditions will add to troubles,” he said.
