ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday joined the international community invoicing its strong opposition and condemnation of the US administration’sdecision to recognise Syria’s Golan Heights as Israeli territory.
“This decision represents a serious violation of UN Charter, internationallaw and applicable UN Security Council resolutions, particularly 497(1981),” the Foreign Office of Pakistan said in a statement.
It said the decision also constituted a “serious blow” to the rule of lawand international norms.
“Pakistan shares the international outrage and is deeply concerned over thepotentially grave repercussions of this decision for the region andbeyond,” the statement read.
Islamabad further called upon the UN Security Council to take cognizance ofthe situation and take steps in accordance with the UN Charter.
