ISLAMABAD – National Library of Pakistan (NLP) has so far completeddigitalisation of around two million pages under its project“Digitalization of Rare Books and Manuscript Collection”.The project was aimed at preserving rare books and manuscripts ofQuaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal to educate thefuture generations about visionary thoughts of these two revolutionarypersonalities.Talking to APP, NLP Director Syed Ghayour Hussain said the project titled“Digitalization of Rare Books and Manuscript Collection” was approved inthe budget of 2018-19.Under this project, the NLP will digitalise around 10,000 rare books andmanuscripts comprising over 53, 00,000 (5.3 million) pages, he revealed.The digitalisation of rare books and manuscripts will serve as catalyst toaware younger generation with thoughts and messages of Quaid-e-Azam andAllama Iqbal.It will also help students who are pursuing their research on thecontributions and lives of these two personalities, he added.Syed Ghayour Hussain informed that the NLP has also started maintainingdigital record of verbal conversations of experts in different fields oflives who speak on important issues in different conferences and seminars.He said there is no record of such important talks by the leading expertsso the NLP has started maintaining record for the future generations.
