Saudi top leadership message conveyed to Pakistani PM Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD -Saudi top leadership message conveyed to Pakistani PM Imran Khanby the Saudi foreign minister.

According to the press release, Prince Faisal conveyed to Qureshi the Saudileadership’s appreciation for the role played by Pakistan in maintainingregional peace and stability.

He reaffirmed Riyadh’s commitment to cementing ties with Pakistan in allfields, saying Saudi Arabia was committed to a prosperous and successfulPakistan. The two ministers also discussed the OIC’s role in theadvancement of the Kashmir cause.

Hehad arrived at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) earlier today,where he was received by Foreign Minister Qureshi. During their detaileddeliberations, “the entire gamut of bilateral relations was covered andviews were exchanged on regional developments”, according to a ForeignOffice press release.

While highlighting that the relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabiais “deep-rooted and long-standing”, Foreign Minister Qureshi focused onissues of mutual interest including bilateral trade and economiccooperation, security and defence cooperation, and parliamentary exchanges.He also underscored the importance of Saudi investments in Pakistan,particularly in the petrochemical, mining and minerals and energy sectors.

Qureshi during the meeting expressed the hope that the Road to Makkahproject to facilitate Haj pilgrims from Pakistan will be extended to othercities of the country, the FO statement said.

The foreign minister apprised his Saudi counterpart of the situation inIndian-occupied Kashmir in the aftermath of India’s decision to revoke theregion’s special autonomy in August.

He also highlighted the Indian government’s actions with regard to theCitizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens and “thesystematic targeting of minorities in India, particularly Muslims”. Qureshithanked the kingdom for its support in the OIC Contact Group on Jammu andKashmir.
