ISLAMABAD – Pakistan is likely to abolish Tripple Talaq issue in thecountry.
The Council of Islamic Ideology is set to take up the triple talaq issuein today’s meeting with an aim to end the instant divorce practice in thecountry.
The constitutional body, which is responsible for advising the legislaturewhether or not a certain law is repugnant to Islam, namely to the Qur’anand Sunna, aims at declaring triple talaq in one go null and void,ineffective and even punishable.
The members of the country’s top Islamic advisory body, including chairmanDr. Qibla Ayaz has been active in bringing about amendments to the relevantlaws since January 2018.
The Hanafi school of thought considers the triple talaq practice legal, butother sects including Shia and Ahl-i-Hadis oppose it.
