Ballistic missile attack on Riyadh: 3 killed, wounded in Saudi capital

RIYADH – Saudi Civil Defense stated that an Egyptian resident was killedand the two others wounded in Riyadh, following the fall of Houthimissiles’ flying shrapnel.

The spokesman of the Civil Defense in Riyadh, Maj. Mohammed Al-Hammadi,that the civil defense teams in the city of Riyadh observed on Sundayevening, the fall of fragments of ballistic missiles on residentialneighborhoods in different locations following their destruction.

Saudi forces intercepted seven Yemeni rebel missiles on Sunday, includingover the capital Riyadh, in a deadly escalation on the eve of the thirdanniversary of the Saudi-led coalition’s intervention in Yemen.

The Iran-aligned Houthi rebels fired three missiles at Riyadh and fourothers at the southern cities of Khamis Mushait, Jizan and Najran, with thecoalition saying they all targeted populated areas.

“This aggressive and hostile action by the Iran-backed Houthi group provesthat the Iranian regime continues to support the armed group with militarycapabilities,” Arab Coalition spokesman Turki al-Malki said.

“The firing of multiple ballistic missiles towards cities is a seriousdevelopment.”

The shrapnel fell on a residential house causing the death of a residentand injury of two others, all of them of Egyptian nationality.
