ISLAMABAD: A serious verbal confrontation erupted between India’s BorderSecurity Force (BSF) and Bangladesh’s Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) onMonday along the Tripura-Comilla border sector, officials confirmed.
Sources said the incident began when BSF personnel accused BGB troops ofallowing cattle smuggling. In response, a BGB jawan reportedly challengedthe Indian side in Hindi, saying “jo karna hai kar le” (do whatever youwant), prompting sharp retorts from BSF soldiers who mocked the Bangladeshforce as the “Kanglu Army”.
Although no shots were fired and the situation was brought under controlafter flag meetings, both sides have increased patrolling in the area.
Local commanders described the exchange as one of the most heated in recentmonths, raising concerns over deteriorating bonhomie along the 4,096-kmfrontier.
Bangladesh border officials have lodged a formal protest with their Indiancounterparts, demanding an apology for the derogatory remarks.
