ISLAMABAD – New developments have been reported against former PM ShahidKhaqan Abbasi from Accountability Court.
Accountability court on Thursday has sent former petroleum minister ShahidKhaqan Abbasi and ex-finance minister Miftah Ismail to jail on physicalremand in liquefied national gas (LNG) scandal.
During the hearing, the court rejected National Accountability Bureau’s(NAB) appeal of extending physical remand of the accused and approved theirjudicial remand.
The apex court on September 10, 2018 directed the NAB to complete theinquiry against Abbasi and others for the alleged corruption in the LNGcontract.
As the minister for petroleum and natural resources, he has been accused ofgranting contract on LNG Terminal to ETPL, Tri-partial agreement, LSA withEETPL and LNG import from Qatar etc.
In June 2018, the NAB approved inquiry against former premier Nawaz Sharifand Abbasi, who was the former minister for petroleum and natural resourcesat that time, in granting contract of LNG terminal for 15 years to their‘favourite’ company.
