BADIN – Former President Asif Ali Zardari gets the blow as the FederalInvestigation Agency (FIA) has raided sugar mill of Pakistan People’s Party(PPP) co-chairman and former president, Asif Ali Zardari in Khoski, Badin.
The raid was conducted after revelations made by Zardari’s close aide AnwarMajeed during the FIA interrogation.
Anwar and his son were arrested on August 15 in connection to a casepertaining to money laundering through fake bank accounts.
The FIA is investigating 32 people in relation to money laundering fromfictitious accounts, including Asif Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur.Zardari’s close aide Hussain Lawai was arrested last month in connectionwith the probe.
Over 20 ‘benami’ accounts at some private banks were opened in 2013, 2014and 2015 from where transactions worth billions of rupees were made,according to sources. The amount, according to FIA sources, is said to beblack money gathered from various kickbacks, commissions, and bribes.
