NEW DELHI – Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday congratulatedPrime Minister Narendra Modi on the win of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) inthe Lok Sabha election, expressing his desire for both countries to worktogether for the betterment of the people.
In a telephonic conversation, Khan reiterated his vision for peace,progress and prosperity in South Asia, adding that he looked forward toworking with PM Modi to advance these objectives. The conversationcontinued for 3 minutes 21 seconds.
Taking to Twitter, Pakistan MEA Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal tweeted,”PM spoke to PM Modi today and congratulated him on his party’s electoralvictory in Lok Sabha elections in India. PM expressed his desire for bothcountries to work together for the betterment of their peoples.
Reiterating his vision for peace, progress and prosperity in South Asia,the Prime Minister said he looked forward to working with Prime MinisterModi to advance these objectives.”
Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson, Raveesh Kumar, tweeted that PMModi thanked Khan, stressing that creating trust and an environment free ofviolence and terrorism were essential for fostering cooperation for peace,progress and prosperity in the region.
“The Prime Minister thanked the Prime Minister of Pakistan for histelephone call and greetings. Recalling his initiatives in line with hisgovernment’s neighbourhood first policy, Prime Minister Modi referred tohis earlier suggestion to the Prime Minister of Pakistan to fight povertyjointly.
