Punjab government takes yet another initiative over Naya Pakistan Housing Programme

LAHORE – Punjab Minister for Housing & Urban Development MianMahmood-ur-Rasheed has said that the Public-Private Partnership Authorityis being set up in the province to ensure participation of private sectorin the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme and speedy construction of housingunits.

Presiding over a departmental meeting, the minister said that the Punjabgovernment, in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, wastaking effective measures to ensure private sector’s participation in thehousing scheme.

By-laws of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Punjab Housing & TownPlanning Agency (PHATA) and other institutions were being amended forproviding relief to builders and developers.

Mehmood-ur-Rasheed said that construction of 2.5 million housing unitsunder the scheme was not possible without active participation of privatesector. He said that builders and developers would be provided all-outcooperation by the Punjab government to achieve this target.

He reiterated his resolve that incentives would be provided to builders anddevelopers in this regard. He said that initiation of housing units underNaya Pakistan Housing Scheme would be made transparent in consultation withprivate sector and quality of the houses would also be ensured.
