KABUL – Kabul Peace Process second meeting is scheduled to be held inAfghanistan on Wednesday and Pakistan is likely to attend the moot.
*President Ashraf Ghani said the Afghan government will propose aninclusive proposal to Pakistan and the Taliban during the Kabul Processconference which is set to start on Wednesday.*
Dutch ambassador to Afghanistan has meanwhile described the conference as amilestone for Afghanistan and the peace process.
“The prospect of peace is on the table, so what we want to see … I thinkwe can expect to see as Afghan government is in control and makes clearpath forward not on the military side, but also on the peace side,” saidAmbassador Geoffrey van Leeuwen.
“At the Kabul Process meeting I will recommend a comprehensive plan to theTaliban and Pakistan, but we are no longer a hostage, we have goodintention for peace but it does not mean weakness,” said Ghani.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has said all necessaryarrangements are in place to convene the meeting.
“It is expected that the meeting will focus on two topics mainly relatingto the modality of the peace process and the fight against terrorism,” saidMoFA spokesman Shekib Mustaghni.
Political analysts have said that the role of countries attending themeeting is crucial to coordinate the views of regional countries regardingpeace and stability in Afghanistan and the campaign against terrorism.
Kabul Process meeting is a gathering of 23 nations, the EU, UN and NATO,which is intended to discuss security and political issues in the country.
