*LAHORE – PML N leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan faces disqualificationthreat as he has not taken oath as Member of Provincial Assembly.*
* A petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday seekingcancellation of membership of members of National Assembly and provincialassemblies who haven’t taken oath after three months of their election.*
The federal government, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), anddisgruntled member of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Chaudhry NisarAli Khan, have been made respondents in the plea.
According to the petition, it’s violation of the law if an elected memberdoesn’t take oath despite their election. ‘Chaudhry Nisar is not takingoath after being elected as MPA in the Punjab Assembly,” he added.
The plea also demanded amendment into the law to make oath-taking asmandatory after election.
“A time period should also be specified for oath-taking and those who don’tabide by should be declared ineligible”, the petitioner argued.
A resolution was also passed by the Punjab Assembly on Jan 16 in thisregard.
