*KARACHI:* The Pakistani rupee began the week on a slightly positive note,posting a marginal gain against the US dollar in the inter-bank market onMonday.
At 10:25am, the local currency was quoted at *281.66*, up by 24 paisa or0.09% against the greenback. By the close of trading, it settled at *281.90per dollar*, compared to *282.06* at the end of last week, according tofigures released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).Gradual Recovery Trend
The rupee has been on a slow but steady recovery path in recent weeks.During the previous week, it appreciated by 16 paisa or 0.05% against theUS dollar. On a broader scale, the currency has strengthened by *1.86rupees (0.66%)* in the ongoing fiscal year, though it still remains *weakerby 3.35 rupees (1.19%)* since the beginning of 2025.
On Friday (August 22), the rupee had closed at *281.90 per dollar*, inchingup by 1.75 paisa compared to the previous day. It also registered mildgains against several other major global currencies.
