ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Petroleum Limited has discovered new oil and gasreserves in Pakistan.
PPL the operator of Gambat South Block (2568-18) with 65 percent workinginterest (WI), along with its joint venture partners Government Holdings(Private) Limited and Asia Resources Oil Limited, having 25 percent and 10percent WI, respectively made a gas and condensate discovery from itsexploration well Badeel X-1 located in District Sanghar, Sindh.
Badeel X-1 was spud on May 16, 2018 and reached the final depth of 4150meters on July 17, 2018. Based on wire line logs, potential hydrocarbonbearing zones were identified inside Massive Sand (Deep).
Initial testing of the most prospective zone in Massive Sand (Deep) ofLower Goru Formation flowed 23.4 million cubic feet per day of gas alongwith 91 barrels per day of condensate at flowing wellhead pressure of 3250psi on 40/64″ choke, thereby confirming the presence of substantialquantities of hydrocarbons. Testing of the zone is in progress at variouschoke sizes and the well is being flowed. However, actual flow potential ofBadeel X-1 will be assessed after completion of the test.
Moreover, the entire potential of the well will be determined afterevaluating and testing of its other potential hydrocarbon bearing zones.
The discovery will add hydrocarbon reserves, reducing the supply and demandgap in the country.
