Pakistan and Turkey Sign Landmark Agreement: To Jointly Develop Rocket Technologies and Precision Guided Missiles

ISLAMABAD — July 25, 2025: In a significant step toward deepening bilateral defense collaboration, Pakistan’s defense conglomerate GIDS (Global Industrial & Defence Solutions) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Turkey’s leading defense manufacturer, MKE (Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation). The agreement aims to foster cooperation in the development and production of aerospace munitions.

The MoU was signed during the International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF) 2025 held in Istanbul, where defense firms from around the world showcased their latest technologies. Senior officials from both countries hailed the development as a strategic partnership that aligns with their shared goals of strengthening indigenous defense capabilities and enhancing regional security.

Under the agreement, GIDS and MKE will explore joint ventures, technology transfer, and co-development of advanced aerial munitions, including precision-guided bombs, air-to-ground systems, and rocket technologies. The partnership is expected to bolster Pakistan’s munitions manufacturing capacity and open new avenues for innovation and export.

GIDS, a state-owned Pakistani defense group, has been at the forefront of defense technologies in the region, offering integrated solutions in missile systems, UAVs, and electronic warfare. MKE, backed by the Turkish government, is known for its expertise in ammunition, weapons systems, and explosive materials and has been expanding its footprint through international collaborations.

This move comes at a time when Pakistan and Turkey continue to expand defense ties through joint exercises, military training programs, and industrial cooperation. Experts view the MoU as a strategic alignment that not only benefits both nations’ armed forces but also strengthens their positions in the global defense market.

The signing of the MoU further reinforces the long-standing defense partnership between Pakistan and Turkey, rooted in mutual trust, technological exchange, and a shared vision for self-reliance in military production.
