KHUSHAB – Females while breaking 70-year old tradition, voted for thefirst time in Khushab’s Ghak Kallan village on Wednesday in Pakistangeneral elections.
On the contrary, the women were barred from voting in Swabi following thedirections of jirga.
In Kot Momin, women were not permitted in NA-89. Meanwhile in NorthWaziristan, females boycotted the polling process as no woman polling agentwas present at the booths.
Women say that they cannot cast vote due to the deployment of male staff atpolling station.——————————
Voting for the landmark 2018 general elections is underway across thecountry on Wednesday during which the voters will exercise their right tovote to elect 270 members of the National Assembly and a total of 570members of four provincial assemblies for the next five-year term(2018-2023).
The polling started at 8am in the morning and will continue till 6pm in theevening without any break. It is the first time that the polling time hasbeen extended by one hour for the convenience of voters.
