ISLAMABAD: A Probe has been sought over Pakistan’s failure to secure FATFmembership.
Minister for Human Rights Dr. Shireen Mehrunnisa Mazari on Tuesday calledfor a thorough probe against specific officials and ministers of previousgovernments for their failure to secure membership of Financial Action TaskForce (FATF) for Pakistan.
Participating in the budget debate, she said, “Parliament should conduct aninvestigation against specific members of bureaucracy, foreign ministersand institutional heads ( of previous governments) for not applying for themembership of FATF.”
She said FATF’s primary focus was on checking money laundering and that waswhy past rulers had not applied for group’s membership.
