ISLAMABAD: The ground breaking of new airport in Gwadar city is likely tobe performed this week.
The airport would be built at a cost of US$230 million, an official fromChina Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Secretariat Monday said.
He said works of project design and feasibility of the new internationalairport has already been completed while the Civil Aviation Authority hasalready identified the 3,000 acres of land that is located around 26kilometer northeast of the existing airport.
The new airport would posses the international status which will be rununder open sky policy, he said adding during the development process of thenew airport, the existing airport’s capacity would also be enhanced bymaking it capable of transporting big aerolanes.
He said with the establishment of new international airport, the Gwadarcity would become hub of aviation industry and it would also help elevatingthe CPEC framework.
The official informed that the airport would have the capacity to receiveworld’s all types of aeroplanes including A380 Boeing to facilitatetransportation of international investors and tourists.
