ISLAMABAD – Gulfstream is angling to reclaim bragging rights as builder ofthe world’s biggest private jet.
The planemaker unveiled plans to make a roomier version of its flagshipG650, which was unseated last year as the largest luxury jet by BombardierInc.’s Global 7500. Gulfstream’s new G700, with an expected debut in 2022,will be capable of flying 7,500 nautical miles and cruising at just underthe speed of sound, Bloomberg has reported.
The G700 has “the tallest, widest, longest cabin in our industry,”Gulfstream President Mark Burns said at a private-jet conference lateMonday in Las Vegas.
Gulfstream, a unit of General Dynamics Corp., is betting that the $76million G700 will entice the world’s wealthiest flyers with the biggercabin and an upgraded range. The launch customer is Qatar Airways, whichhas ordered 10 aircraft for its charter service Qatar Executive.
