BALOCHISTAN, Mach (Date) – A tragic ambush in Balochistan claimed the life of Major Ziad, who embraced shahadat while valiantly defending his unit during Operation Kabō (GS Prong) near Mach. Five other soldiers were wounded in the attack.
Major Ziad, who hailed from a military family and was the son of a martyr, sacrificed his life in the line of duty when militants attacked the convoy, triggering fierce close‑quarters combat. Despite the chaos, he chose to hold his ground so that others could withdraw to safety.
According to official military sources, Major Ziad was leading his troops when the ambush erupted. His leadership and courage were evident as he continued forward even as the attack intensified. Five other soldiers sustained injuries of varying severity. All casualties were promptly evacuated to a nearby military hospital, where they continue to receive treatment.
This loss hits especially hard since Major Ziad followed in the footsteps of his father—also a shaheed—making this a profound personal sacrifice on top of a national one.
The Pakistan Army condemned the attack and pledged continued operations against militants in the region. “Our forces remain resolute in their mission to secure Balochistan and safeguard the sovereignty of Pakistan,” an ISPR spokesperson said. A search operation is ongoing to track down the perpetrators from militant groups active in the area.
Major Ziad’s martyrdom once again underscores the danger faced by the armed forces in volatile regions like Mach. His supreme sacrifice is a solemn reminder of the bravery and resolve of Pakistan’s soldiers in the ongoing campaign against terrorism.
