ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Super League franchise Quetta Gladiators have made anew offer to the legendry cricketers AB De Villiers after his retirement.
Gladiators have formally invited AB de Villiers to be in action for thenext edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL), asking him to consider theoption.
De Villiers, who recently announced retirement from all internationalcricket, has never featured in the PSL despite being invited numerous timesby the franchises and requested by his Pakistani fans.
In a tweet, Gladiators wrote, “Dear @ABdeVilliers17, we would love to haveyou in Pakistan Super League. February – March is the window. Pleaseconsider. Regards, Quetta Gladiators.”
Gladiators account also mentioned that he has no scheduled games inFebruary-March, the same time when PSL 2019 will be held.
Last year, Karachi Kings owner Salman Iqbal had wished to include deVilliers in his squad, but things couldn’t work according to his plan.“Many people ask us why we couldn’t bring AB de Villiers on board. It’stough to sign those who are not in the draft pool. We can only pick what’savailable,” he told media at players’ draft.
Fans were thrilled after reading the invite and expressed their excitementon Twitter. “Yes plz do consider we all love you in Pakistan even when youwere playing against us you are one of the greatest cricketers,” one userwrote.
In the international arena, de Villiers has scored 8,765 runs in 114 Tests,9,577 runs in 228 ODIs and 1,672 runs in 78 T20s. De Villiers maintained abatting average of 53.50 in the ODI format with strike rate of 101.09.
