RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa reachedRussia on Tuesday, informed a press release issued by ISPR.
The COAS met Commander Russian Federation Ground Forces Colonel GeneralOleg Salyukov at the Kremlin Palace. General Bajwa was presented guard ofhonour by the Russian authorities.
The Russian Ground Forces Commander acknowledged achievements of PakistanArmy in fight against terrorism and contributions for regional peace andstability.
Russian Ground Forces Commander said that Pakistan is a geo-strategicallyimportant country and Russia is keen to expand its existing bilateralmilitary to military cooperation.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa thanked Russian Ground Forces Commander and saidthat Pakistan reciprocates desire of enhanced bilateral militaryengagements.
The COAS said that Russia has recently played a positive role to helpresolve complex situations in the region.
He said that Pakistan will continue to play its part to keep conflicts awayfrom the region and seek approaches which bring regional convergences intoplay rather than the divergences.
